  • Join the NHCT for Ride+Stride where you can have a great day out, visiting Nottinghamshire’s historic churches whilst raising funds for their preservation.

  • Below you will find all the information you need. Not taken part before? Read about what great days out regular ride and striders have had here.
  • It is the trust’s biggest annual fundraising event. Thanks to your support, the trust raised £14,000 for churches in 2021.

Ride+Stride FAQs

How does it work?

You are sponsored to visit churches who are also sponsored for welcoming visitors.
The total money raised is split between the trust and those participating churches. Visit as many as you can – set yourself a challenge. Can you visit all of the churches in your parish? It is completely up to you – you decide how far and how many. The church doors are open – they look forward to welcoming you so stop by, be curious, have a chat and a well-deserved cup of tea of course.

The combination of exploring heritage and exercising across our beautiful county, whilst supporting the trust to carry out its vital work, makes this a fantastic local event.

Who can take part?

Everyone! You don’t have to be a member of a church; families, colleagues, friends, runners, mobility scooters and dog walkers are all welcome. Ride+Stride can be tailored to your individual needs too. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll from the doorstep or an epic cross-county ride, you decide your route and which churches to visit along the way. It’s a low-impact, low-cost day out for all!

Why take part?

Just by going on your usual stroll or cycle, no matter how big or small, you will be helping to raise the funds that allow the trust to offer churches grants. These grants are crucial in helping to preserve the historic churches that have stood at the centre of their communities for centuries.

We’ve put together 8 reasons to take part, or hear from past Riders and Striders themselves!
