The tracery of the 13th century east chancel window of Holy Trinity Church, Ratcliffe on Soar, was in need of urgent repair.
The restoration work will involve:
- photographing sections
- taking paper rubbings reference
- carefully dismantling sections using appropriate tools
- carefully cleaning all glass with fine wire wool, removing all dirt and tarnish due to rusting steel
- rebuilding ferramentas (an interlocking system of metal bars that supports the glazing) sections on lining paper rubbings using existing glass and replacing any broken/missing – matching as near as possible and new lead cames, matching size and profile
