Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme

The Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme (LPWGS), administered by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, refunds VAT on repairs and maintenance for listed places of worship within a fixed budget limit. The scheme, which started in 2001, has recently been extended until April 2015 albeit in a revised form with exclusions such as professional fees and repairs to clocks, pews, bells and organs. The way in which payments are claimed and calculated also changed in 2011 and it therefore advisable to check on the scheme’s website for full details.
