Original sections of the church wall had been built in Mansfield white sandstone and a local mudstone. Previous repairs to the wall had been completed with a cement mortar that had caused much of the damage to the stone. A softer Ancaster limestone has been used to replace older stones which had not fared well alongside the cement mortar. Mudstone is a softer sandstone and much of this had delaminated.
Nottinghamshire Historic Churches Trust were pleased to assist with funding the restoration.
